Ferrari to renew Marlboro sponsorship?
Marlboro has been Ferrari's title sponsor since 1997, and if all goes to plan the new agreement will see the tobacco company continue in this role until 2014. The current sponsorship deal doesn't involve any branding on the car due to tobacco sponsorship being banned in 2007. Originally, when this law came in the Marlboro logo on the Ferrari's was replaced for a barcode, however, this caused controversy as it was seen by some as subliminal advertising, and so was taken off the cars for the 2010 season. espnf1.com reports that a Ferrari spokesman said: "The current agreement will expire at the end of this year. There is not yet any agreement for the next years but there are all the conditions to sign a new one." The current contract is believed to be worth $1 billion over ten years.
