HRT Car Won't Be Ready Till Bahrain Tests
HRT's latest signing Narain Karthikeyan has told Times of India that HRT's 2011 car won't be ready until the final pre-season tests. Karthikeyan said "We have four tests before the race in Bahrain, the first being in Valencia, followed by Jerez and Barcelona and then a four-day test in Bahrain a week before the season opener. Our new car won't be ready for the first three tests in Spain where I will drive the 2010 car." Speaking about the 2011 car the Indian driver added "The biggest change will be the gearbox and hydraulics package from Williams. The car will have the Cosworth engine, coupled with the systems from Williams. Basically, the whole geometry around the engine will be the same as the Williams cars." HRT have had to turn to focusing on modifying its current Dallara chassis for the season opener in Bahrain, after a deal to use Toyota's 2010 car fell through. However, HRT had always planned to run its 2010 car at the first test in Valencia, but a date for the launch of the new car is still yet to be confirmed. Narain Karthikeyan also revealed that his team-mate for the season should be named in the next couple of weeks.
