Suzuka extends contract to 2012

The future of the Japanese grand prix has been uncertain since the withdrawal of Japanese teams Honda and Toyota, as well as tyre manufacturer Bridgestone. Although, the Suzuka circuit which is owned by Honda has announced that they have extended their current F1 contract to 2012. This is positive news for the Japanese GP after the boss of the Honda-owned Mobilityland company admitted last year that the Japanese Formula one event at Suzuka is "only marginally profitable". Sauber's Kamui Kobayashi is the only Japanese Formula One driver confirmed for 2011.
